Abbreviation of Business to Business – the marketing of products and services to a business that will use them in the production and sales of their own products.

For example – a software company specialising in CRM systems will be classified as being in the Business to Business sector. Some companies will target the same products at businesses and consumers.

Products such as energy, PCs etc will have both types of market sector as their target audience. Where this happens, the organisation typically splits sales and marketing in to distinct B2B and B2c areas of operation.

Business to business marketing involves much the same set of disciplines as B2C marketing, but there are distinct rules and regulations and more importantly opportunities.
