An autoresponder is an automated email campaign that can be triggered by the recipient. These triggered responses can be quite simple, such as a Thank You email when a contact form is submitted. They can be more complex, campaigns can be triggered and then self-determining based on how the recipient reacts to each email sent to them.
Autoresponders can also be used to automate aspects of an email based support service.
